Production: The tea is also known as diānhóng gōngfū chá, composes of dark leaves with plentiful of golden buds of tea tree grown in high Yunnan mountains.
Characteristics: Fermented with lychee, rose and longan, Dianhong tea produces a brew that is brassy golden orange in colour with a sweet, gentle aroma and no astringency.
Health Benefits: It is rich in polyphenol antioxidants - catechins. Catechins help to protect body cells and tissues against oxidative damages caused by free radicals in the environment. They also aid in lowering low-density lipoprotein and total cholesterol levels in the blood. Regular intake of tea helps to promote overall health and well-being.
a. Hot Tea: Add 2 teaspoonfuls of tea leaves into a pre-warmed cup or teapot. Rinse tea leaves with boiling water and discard the water immediately. Pour in 200-220ml of freshly boiled water and steep for 3-5 minutes. May be enjoyed with milk or lemon to taste.
b. Ice Tea: Follow the instruction of making hot tea but pour in 70-80ml of freshly boiled water and steep for 3-5 minutes. Transfer the tea to another cup and put enough ice to make a cup of delicious ice tea.
